Starting with version 3 you can use your CORE HL7 Viewer to query HL7 databases created in Microsoft SQL Server OR MySQL with the CORE HL7 SQL Schema Engines or the UltraPort HL7 SQL Schema Engine.

Just click Downloads in the top menu to download the CORE HL7 MS SQL Schema Engine OR the CORE HL7 MySQL Schema software and try it for free. You can also click on Other Online Help in the top menu to visit the Help pages on our website to review the online help for either the CORE HL7 MS SQL Schema Engine OR the CORE HL7 MySQL Schema Engine.

Open A CORE SQL Connector
In the main window click
to open your SQL Connectors. It's important to remember that this help document is not intended to be an instruction manual of what SQL is, or how database connections work. It is assumed that if you want to do this you either already know the basics of SQL Server connections OR have a local DBA who can walk you through this.
Creating a Microsoft SQL Server Connector
If you have never created a SQL Database Connector in the CORE HL7 Viewer you will see an empty connectors window.

Click the New Connection button to open the Choose HL7 Schema Database Platform window. Choose CORE HL7 Microsoft SQL Database to launch the Add / Edit SQL Database Connector window.

You enter the Profile Name and the Schema Prefix, and the rest of the information is all about how to connect to the database. The Schema Prefix is the 2-4 character "Prefix" you used when you created your CORE HL7 Database Schema using one of our CORE HL7 SQL Database Engines.
You can create connectors using the Trusted Connection.

If you have never created a MySQL Database Connector in the CORE HL7 Viewer you will see an empty connectors window.

Clicking the New Connection button brings up the Choose HL7 Schema Database Platform window.

You will want to click the CORE HL7 MySQL Database button.
 Edit Connection Profile (MySQL)
In the Edit Connection Profile window you enter Profile Name and the Schema Prefix, and the rest of the information is all about how to connect to the MySQL database. The Schema Prefix is the 2-4 character "Prefix" you used when you created your CORE HL7 MySQL Database Schema using one of our CORE HL7 MySQL Database Engines. Click Edit your CORE HL7 MySQL Connector button to edit the MySQL connection properties.

Some Notes About Navigating This Window
•To EDIT a Connection Profile just double click the entry in the list OR click the
button on the toolbar.
•To DELETE a Connection Profile click the
button on the toolbar.
•To CANCEL and return to the Main Window click the
button on the toolbar.
•To Test Your Database Connection only click the
button.
•To Open the Query Window click the
button.
