Importing HL7 Messages

Importing HL7 Data from the
Main Window Toolbar
Beginning with the CORE HL7 Viewer version 2.5 you can import HL7 messages into your Message Store 3 different ways.
•From a file. Just click the Open File button on the main toolbar shown above to select a file containing HL7 messages. The file is analyzed and all messages detected are placed in your Message Store. You can also import messages by clicking the File menu -> Import HL7 Message(s).
•From a folder. You can direct your viewer to search for HL7 messages in a folder containing multiple HL7 data files. Just click the Import From Folder button and see Import HL7 Folder for more information.
•New In Version 2! You can now import HL7 messages from a HL7 Database created in Microsoft SQL Server by our CORE HL7 MS SQL Schema Engine (See HL7 Databases)

The Main Window Toolbar
If you want to export all of the HL7 Messages in your Store click the Export Store button on the toolbar (or in the File menu) to bring up the export window.

The Export Window (Export to a folder)
In the Export Window just check the appropriate boxes for what you want to do. Do you want to export Everything (IE every message in your Store) or just A Range of Messages. And then how do you want to export the messages? To A Single File or to A Folder (exporting to a folder creates 1 file for each message). If you check A Folder you will be prompted to choose a windows folder destination (as shown above). If you check A Single File you will be prompted to choose the destination file for your export operation (as shown below).

The Export Window (Export to a single file)
Once you have completed your selection just click Ok.
